We are a private Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy clinic where children have been growing and learning for over five years. Developmental Red Flags
Developmental delays are important to address in the early stages of a child’s life to ensure they are achieving progress at their highest potential. If you answer “yes” to even a couple of these questions you should consult a licensed Occupational Therapist :
- Are you feeling like your child’s development is off the mark (even if a teacher or doctor has not shared the same concern)?
- Is your child having difficulty in the classroom on a regular basis?
- Has a teacher shared concerns about your child’s development?
- Do you often feel anxious that others will comment on your child’s differences?
- Is your child overwhelmed or easily overstimulated in busy places or around large groups?
- Does your child cover his or her ears to shield away noises, avoid grooming activities, complain about clothing textures, or withdraw from touch?
- Does your child need more help than you expected with self-care tasks?
- Is your child resistant to change, new things, or new settings?
- Do you feel like you are always setting up the environment to enable your child’s success, worrying about tantrums or atypical behaviors?
- Is your child struggling with handwriting and/or fine motor activities?
- Do gross motor activities seem difficult for your child to learn?
- Is your child more clumsy than other children his or her age?
