Occupational Therapy

This is a therapeutic intervention that assists individuals in becoming as independent as possible in their life role or “occupation”. For children their life occupations include playing, learning, attending school, interacting with others and exploring their environment.
An Occupational Therapist can evaluate a child’s play, educational readiness, and self-help skills to determine if development is age appropriate. Pediatric Occupational Therapists provide therapeutic treatment for delays in sensory integration, fine motor, gross motor, handwriting, self-regulation, visual and auditory processing, self-help, social-skills, and more!
According to the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA), OT practitioners can certainly address an individual’s physical well-being, but they also look at the psychological, social, and environmental factors that can hinder an individual’s level of function. This unique approach makes occupational therapy a vital part of the health care team for kids.
